You are invited to take part in this survey. Before you decide whether to participate, it is important for you to understand the purpose of the project. The purpose of this survey is to investigate the well-being and career identities of professional musical theatre performers in the UK.
Am I a suitable participant? If you identify as a 'professional musical theatre performer' then yes!
Do I have to take part? It is your choice if you wish to take part. It is important to remember you can withdraw at any time during the survey until you press the final submit button, there will not be any negative consequences. You do not have to give a reason. If you wish to withdraw from the research simply exit this Google Form and do not complete the form. Please note that by choosing to participate in this research, will not create a legally binding agreement, nor is it intended to create an employment relationship between you and the University of Sheffield.
If I take part, what do I have to do? If you agree to take part, you will commence a short survey.
What are any possible risks of taking part? There is a possibility that during the survey, you may think about experiences that are sensitive and personal to you. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, please stop the survey and do not press submit.
What are the possible benefits of taking part? While there are no monetary benefits to taking part, it is hoped that this research will contribute to the understanding of musical theatre performers’ career identities and has the capacity to shape recommendations to improve the industry.
Will my taking part in this project be kept confidential? All the information that we collect about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential and will only be accessible to members of the research team. You will not be able to be identified in any reports or publications. If you agree to us sharing the information you provide with other researchers (e.g. by making it available in a data archive) then your personal details will not be included.
What is the legal basis for processing my personal data? According to data protection legislation, we are required to inform you that the legal basis we are applying in order to process your personal data is that ‘processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest’ (Article 6(1)(e)). What will happen to the data collected, and the results of the research project? Participant data will be kept under a pseudonym. All data part of the project will be stored on a secure Google Drive.
Who is the data controller? The University of Sheffield will act as the Data Controller for this study. This means that the University is responsible for looking after your information and using it properly.
Who has ethically reviewed the project? The University of Sheffield Ethics Board.
