Thank you for your interest in fostering through the Rio Grande Valley Humane Society !

We are always anticipating the need to find fosters for the animals in our care when we reach critical capacity due to increased intakes throughout the year. Historically, the summer and spring are a very busy time at the Humane Society, kitten season being one of those reasons! We are seeking people who can provide care for a foster pet in emergency situations in order to give us more time to find a more permanent foster.

Signing up with this form you agree to be contacted regarding incoming pets who are in need of emergency placement. This emergency period can be as little as 1-2 nights. This would likely be neonatal puppies/kittens who will not survive on their own overnight, severely ill or injured animals who need constant monitoring, or when the Humane Society has run out of kennel space for medium-large dogs.

The Humane Society will provide all supplies needed to care for the pet(s).

What is your preferred method of communication? *
Are you comfortable with bottle feeding or are willing to learn how to bottle feed? *
Bottle feeding would be for 1 day-3 week old kittens/puppies every 2-5 hours (depending on age) Training would be provided if needed!
Are you comfortable with 3-4 week old kittens/puppies who are eating gruel and may need help with supplemental feedings? *
Gruel kittens/puppies would be for 3-4 week olds who are eating wet food but may need supplemental bottle feedings or syringe feedings (depending on age) Training would be provided if needed!
Are you comfortable with administering medications or are willing to learn how to administer medications? *
These pets may have injuries or illnesses that may need medications administered. Training would be provided if needed!  
Are you willing to foster a medium-large dog? *
Not sure about taking a medium-large dog? We can help supply a crate if needed to keep separated from owned pets.
