AFSA Learning Plan Request Grades 8 - 12
With infection rates in Minnesota on the decline and vaccine availability for school staff increasing, the school board has asked the high school administration team to gather information from our families to help develop our plan to return students to school.  We are proposing tentative return to school dates for in-person learning for grades 8 and 9 on March 23, 2021 and for grades 10-12 on April 5, 2021.   Our school board would take action on the administrations recommendations at the February 23 board meeting. Final dates will be communicated to all families.

School will resume at a full schedule of in-person learning from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Activities and classes will look and feel different than our typical hands-on learning style due to required protocols and guidelines from the MN State Government, but we look forward to welcoming students back in a safe way!  At the High School, students do not stay with the same students all day, although we are minimizing transitions as much as we can.

School transportation is available for in-person students to arrive at school in the morning, and busing home at 3pm after dismissal.  Keep in mind that due to new protocols and rules, bus routes may be longer than usual.

Carefully consider your response to these questions, as this information will directly inform the planning for our transition to this updated plan. We will continue to follow MDH (Minnesota Department of Health) guidance when making decisions about reopening our school.

Your response indicates your final decision for these options.  This choice will be for the remainder of the school year.  Students who choose and attend in-person learning must do so for the remainder of the school year unless quarantine is necessary.  Students who choose to remain in distance learning will have live synchronous lessons for every class, every day.  They must remain in distance learning for the remainder of the school year.

Please fill out one form per student in grades 8-12. Please respond by February 19th to ensure your decision is received for our planning.  If we do not hear from you, we will assign your student to distance learning for the remainder of the school year.
