Mental Health-Informed Lawyering: Perspectives from Practitioners
Join us on Thursday, Feb. 23rd from 12:45-2pm at the law school (Room 190) for the first official Mental Health-Informed Lawyering discussion - we will be hearing from Joseph Penrod, an Alameda County Public Defender who works primarily with clients living with mental illness, and Dr. Rona Hu, a senior psychiatrist at Stanford and former director of the inpatient psychiatric unit at Stanford Hospital, with particular expertise on cultural considerations in mental health care. They will discuss how law students might better prepare themselves to be effective and compassionate advocates for clients experiencing mental illness. Lunch will be provided upon RSVP.
This event is sponsored by SPILF and DAMNS.
