Visit SUNY Maritime with Horizons!
On Saturday, November 5th 2022, Horizons students across NYC are invited to spend the day at SUNY Maritime for an extra special Horizons Super Science Saturday! Students will spend the day learning about sustainable wind energy and participating in waterfront activities. We are so excited for this opportunity! Please read details carefully below:
  • DATE: Saturday, November 5th 2022
  • TIME: 8:30am-4pm (breakfast and lunch will be provided)
  • DEPART: 8:30am in Downtown Brooklyn
  • RETURN: around 4pm in Downtown Brooklyn
  • WHO: 10 students across grades 6-8th from each Horizons program (This will be a first-come, first-served basis. After we reach capacity, you will be added to the stand-by list)
  • WHAT: SUNY Maritime faculty and staff will lead explorations in the up-and-coming field of
    offshore wind. Students will take the helm of virtual vessels and "climb” turbine towers in virtual reality simulators, build their own model wind turbine, then get out on a boat in the East River to feel the breeze for real!
  • WHERE: SUNY Maritime College Campus in Throgs Neck
