Hymnathon Sponsor Form
St. Paul's is legendary as a church that raises the roof with hymn singing. During a procession with incense, crowned by a thrilling descant from the boys, in our reverberant acoustic, our hymns resound all the way to heaven, lifting us all closer to God.

What hymns do you love? Do you have a favorite hymn? Does St. Paul's Parish have a favorite hymn? Is there a hymn you'd rather never sing ever again? Is there an anthem in the St. Paul's Boys Choir repertoire that you particularly love?

On Friday, April 5 at 3:00 pm in Di Giovanni Hall, you are invited to our first ever HYMNATHON, during which the Boys Choir will sing all 400 hymns in the St. Paul's Hymnal, from #197 Hark! A Thrilling Voice Is Sounding; to #579, The Star-Spangled Banner.

Why on earth are we doing this?
We will do it for both the challenge and joy of singing through some of Christianity's great hymns, and to raise funds for the Boy's Chicago tour, April 9 - 14. Our goal is $30,000.

How will it work? How will the funds accumulate?
With the boys leading the charge, everyone is invited to join in and sing along. Stop by for ten minutes, an hour, or stay for the whole thing! Hymnals and refreshments will be provided. We will sing only the first stanza of each hymn, unless someone wishes to purchase...
  • a second, third or fourth stanza
  • your favorite descant, sung by the boys
  • a hymn that's NOT in the St. Paul's Hymnal
  • a beloved anthem from the boys' repertoire
  • a hymn that we should skip. Be nice, though!

Choose Your Favorite Hymn - Enter the name of the Hymn that you wish to vote for as the SPCS "Favorite Hymn." Votes are made by pledging sponsorship dollars for that hymn St Paul's Hymnal. The top ten hymns will be sung in the Church with full organ accompanying The Boys and Schola of Saint Paul's Choir.

Do you have a favorite organ piece? The famous Widor Toccata? Vierne - Carillon de Westminster? A Bach Prelude and Fugue? For a $500 donation your piece, subject to approval, will be played by Richard Webster or Brandon Straub during the Hymnathon festive finale in the church.  Your request must be received on or before to April 1st.
