If you are interested in becoming an Officer of the Maryvale Middle School PTO, or know of someone perfect for the position that you would like to nominate, please indicate your preference and complete the nomination by Friday May 10th .

Elections will take place at the May 13th meeting in the Middle School Library starting at 6:30 pm.
Attendance is MANDATORY at that meeting for all potential candidates!

Which Board Position are you interested in? *

President – Preside at General PTO meetings and Executive Board meetings, serve as the official representative of the PTO, and retain all official records of the PTO. The President shall select and appoint the chairperson of all Standing and Special Committees and shall be an ex-officio member of all committees of the Maryvale PTO. The President, or the President’s designee the, will approve all expenditures and shall serve as an authorized signatory of all Maryvale PTO checks. The President communicates with the principal when special needs within the school community occur.

Vice President – In the absence of the President, the Vice President shall implement the obligations of the President. The Vice President shall perform such other duties as are assigned by the President or the Executive Board. In the instance of a co-vice presidency, these duties are shared and each officer will be allowed a vote. If the presidency becomes vacant, the Vice President will assume the presidency.

Secretary – Prepare agendas, record and distribute minutes of all Executive Board meetings and all General PTO meetings. The Secretary shall receive from the Treasurer the list of Regular Members who have paid dues and prepare the official list of Voting Members. The secretary will verify that Room Parents are PTO Members. The secretary will make this list available at all meetings or when requested by the President. The Secretary will assist with communications through newsletter, website, bulletin boards, etc. The Secretary shall perform such other duties as are assigned by the President or the Executive Board.

Treasurer –Serve as custodian of the PTO’s finances, collect revenue, pay authorized expenses, reconcile the bank account monthly, report financial activity at every general membership meeting or when requested, prepare year-end financial report, facilitate an annual audit, and hold all financial records. The Treasurer shall collect all membership dues as are established by the Maryvale PTO and shall compile an accurate list of the voting members of the Maryvale PTO to be given to the secretary. The Treasurer shall serve as an authorized signatory of all Maryvale PTO checks. The treasurer will assist with preparing forms for filing taxes.

Alternates – Alternate positions shall perform duties as are assigned by the President or the Executive Board. Alternates can chair or serve on committees. In the event of a vacancy, other than president, the alternate will assume the vacant position.
