Current Volunteer Opportunities
Shelter Meals Prep Volunteer
Description:
Help prepare dinner for residents living in The Oaks Enhanced Shelter. Meals are prepared in the HIP kitchen and then delivered to the shelter on a nightly basis. Bring your kitchen skills or come to learn new ones.

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers must be 18 or older and have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). Volunteers must also complete a background check
Time commitment:
As you are able! Prep shifts are M/T/W/Th from 2:30-5:30pm, plus Wednesdays from 1-4pm and Thursdays from 11am-2pm.

Shelter Meals Serving Volunteer
Description:
Meet the HIP Program coordinator at The Oaks to help serve and box dinners for residents living in The Oaks Enhanced Shelter. Meals are served at the Oaks enhanced shelter. the responsibilities include some light house keeping, serving, and boxing meals.

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers must be 18 or older and a current Food Worker Card is preferred but not required
 Volunteers must also complete a background check
Time commitment:
Serving happens M,T,W,Th from 5pm - 6:30 pm

Senior Meal Prep Volunteer
Description:
For all the cooks! Help prepare lunch for our Senior Meal program. Meals are prepared in the HIP kitchen and then served at the Lake City Community Center or delivered to homes. Bring your kitchen skills or come to learn new ones. For an extended shift, volunteers can head over to Lamb of God Church once food prep is done to help serve meals.

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers must be 18 or older and have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). 

Time commitment:
As you are able! Prep shifts are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Senior Meal Serving Volunteer
Description:
Help serve lunch to seniors at the Lamb of God Church. Work with other volunteers to package up meals to be delivered to homes, and then serve to program participants during our one-hour lunch. Enjoy a meal while you're there!

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers must be 16 or older, complete a background check, and have a current Food Worker Card (available online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov for $10). 

Time commitment:
As you are able! Serving shifts are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:15am-1:45pm.

Healthy HIP Pack Packing Parties

Description:
Come to HIP and help us pack up our Healthy HIP Packs or help with the setup. These are weekend food packs that go out to schools around the area. This a fun and easy volunteer opportunity great for families and children!

Age/Requirements:
All ages are welcome (under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). 

Time commitment:
As you are able! Packing Parties are 1-2 times each month on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons.

Senior Meal Delivery Driver Backup
Description:
As a backup delivery driver, we will reach out to you about completing a delivery route in the event that a regular volunteer isn't available. Delivery drivers pick up freshly-made lunches at the Lamb of God Church and deliver them to homebound seniors around North Seattle. Volunteers will be asked to use their own vehicle, but will be reimbursed for gas.

Age/Requirements:
Volunteers must be 18 or older, complete a background check, and have their own vehicle.

Time commitment:
Deliveries happen on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 11:45am-1:45pm. You DO NOT need to be available on a regular basis. If we are in need of a backup, we will reach out to you and you will have the option of accepting or declining the shift.

Hold Harmless & Confidentiality Statements *
I desire to participate in volunteer programs, events or activities operated or sponsored by Hunger intervention Program (HIP). I have investigated the risks involved in my participation and fully understand and assume such risks. Specifically, I understand and acknowledge that I may suffer or experience, among other things, personal injury or bodily damage, mental anguish, or loss, damage or theft of personal property.  I hereby agree to release and forever discharge Hunger Intervention Program, its officers and directors, its employees, agents and any parties volunteering on behalf of Hunger Intervention Program from expenses of any kind growing out of or related to any such activities in which I participate. I understand that this is a full and complete release for all liability, cost, injuries, and damages that I may sustain as a result of my participation in any volunteer activities, regardless of the specific cause thereof.  I have been made aware of resources to which I can turn to answer my questions or address any concerns that I may have about volunteering. I have exercised my right to access these resources to address those questions/concerns prior to signing this document and am making a voluntary, informed decision to accept the terms of the agreement.  Furthermore, I agree to not divulge, publish, photograph or otherwise make known to unauthorized persons, any information regarding clients of Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) at any of its service locations or locations of its program partners. I understand that my obligations to protect client confidentiality continue after termination of my volunteer duties with HIP. This agreement is binding upon my heirs, successors, and personal representatives.
