Charlonian Captain Positions

You will be interviewing for the following captain positions on Thursday March 23rd, after the parent meeting. Come prepared with a declaration stating why will serve your team well as a captain. You may present yourself in any way that you like in the 5 minute time frame. You may pick 2 positions to run for (final decision will be made by coaches). Below you will find a brief description of each captain’s position. Use the descriptions to decide which captain's positions you would like to run for.

Captain Responsibilities: Provides a positive role model concerning commitment, intensity, confidence, response to mistakes, composure, hustle, and a “team first” focus

Encourage and support coaches, and all teammates
Must be willing to give many extra hours which include: leadership retreat, captains practices, and captain meetings before and after practice
Will not be ‘marking’ any routines or sitting out during practice. Only a rare circumstance will permit either of these situations
Will always arrive early for all activities and plan to stay late if necessary until all jobs have been completed.
Promote a positive attitude and positive team interactions - every day,
Able to issue constructive criticism to peers in an effective and respectful manner.
Complete every duty by the given deadline.
Must be the ideal example of a lady at all times; representing a Char at all times
Should be highly respected by her peers on the team and throughout the school
Must maintain and stay above all scholastic requirements 3.5 GPA
Has all of our routines music on her phone
Master choreography and counts
Must be okay with being corrected, and apply those corrections.
Promote and enforce discipline and respect.
Assist Coaches in planning yearly activities.
Will bring all concerns to the coaches privately and will not discuss with other team members or captains without sharing with the coaches first.

Head Captain
You are the leader of this team and the hardest worker on the team. Everyone will look to you to see how to act in situations in and out of practice. You are the coaches’ go-to girl! Not only will you be working with the girls, but with parents and other leaders within the school. You will make decisions regarding the team and will have final say among the captains. You will work with your assistants to lead warm-ups at practices and performances. You will be responsible for getting practice started each morning and running practice if coaches need to step out. You will do the walk on counts for your dances. Stepping in front of the team and counting or cleaning when coaches are talking. You will send weekly reminder texts to the team.  You will also be incharge of deciding what the team will wear to school and performances, this needs to be sent out at the beginning of each month so girls can be aware of what they need to wear.
 Perform other related team duties (as needed or requested by the coaching staff).

Dance Captain
You will support the Coaches and Head Captain in her duties and will need to be able to work cohesively with them.  Always have her back in and out of practice. Your main responsibilities are all things dance. You will be responsible for knowing any and all of our dances forward and backwards. You will be expected to help other team members with choreography and counts in and out of practice. You will work with your assistants to lead warm-ups at practices and performances. You will need to help keep the team’s energy up throughout practice and the year as well. You will be incharge of counting walk ons for your assigned dances.

PR Captain
Your job will be to make our team look amazing in our community and school. Instagram, Facebook and Twitter posts will be part of your duties, making sure to post on our instagram and/or twitter at least 2-4 times a month. These posts should include teammates birthdays, team performances, fundraisers, competitions, and School events. You will be in charge of making posters for Charlonian Events to put around the school. You will also help the other captains and keep the morale of the team high. You will be taking pictures at all team events - getting photos of everyone, and collecting photos from the unity captain. Work with coaches on designing and approving social media posts.


Productions Captain
You will set up and break down music for practice, create a playlist with all team routines on it, and have a backup warm up playlist if needed. You will be responsible for music at other events as well, being responsible for competition music. You will also be in charge of shoe check at all competitions and having the extra costumes/makeup at performances. And lastly your job will consist of keeping the costume closet clean and helping with the costume/garment bag checkout (making sure they come back clean). You will be in charge of putting together small gifts to give to other teams at Region.


PDP Queen
Fun should be your first, middle, and last name! You will be responsible for planning weekly, monthly and seasonal activities and parties that will allow the team to become more unified off the performance floor. Take pictures at all team events - getting photos of everyone and sharing these photos to the dance captains for social media posts. You will be creating a slideshow with these photos at the end of the year, along with organizing and coordinating the end of year DVD. You will work with the other captains to keep the team motivated and having fun all year long! You will be in charge of getting small gifts to bring in on everyone's birthday. You are everyone's best friend and need to make sure  that everyone feels included. If a girl is ever alone or feeling left out it is your job to build her up. Please select 1-2 teammates (not captains) as committee members to help you plan/organize/execute the above tasks.
