RANKED CHOICE: The vote will use a ranked choice system. In a ranked choice system, everyone gets to vote for whichever book they want, while the winning book will necessarily have to be one that was at least partially supported by a majority of the group.
A ranked choice system is tabulated this way: everyone's first choices are counted first. If no book achieves a majority, those who voted for the lowest scoring books will have their votes reallocated to their second choice; this is repeated with third, fourth, and fifth choices of those who voted for the lowest vote-earning books until one book achieves a majority of the vote.
Other rules:
- You are only required to choose a first choice to submit, but if you don't pick a 2nd, 3rd, etc. you give up an opportunity to help your next favorite win if your first choice is eliminated.
- You can only vote for a particular book once. If your 2nd choice is the same as your 1st choice, your 2nd choice vote won't count. (So no "THIS BOOK IS MY 1ST, 2ND, 3RD ETC. TIMES A MILLION FAVORITE BOOK!" Lol. Not gonna work.)
As with the nominations, you'll need to provide a username or name for your ballot to count. (Only one form will be counted per person, obviously.)
I'll count the votes Sunday, May 11 at 1pm and send out an announcement of our June 21 book at that time.
