Utilities and Public Safety
Utilities and Public Safety Industry Day is set for Wednesday, October 25th (Rain Date - November 1st) at Walnut Grove High School from 7:30 AM - 12 PM. The purpose of this event is to give our junior and senior students an overview of career paths available with your company, and let them know how to get started right out of high school.
We would love to have your company participate! This will be a great opportunity to teach our upcoming workforce about available opportunities and potential future careers. Groups of 10 high school juniors and seniors will rotate between stations every 10-15 minutes and view a quick demonstration to learn about the career and how it works, job opportunities, and the path to earn employment after high school graduation. We have plenty of room for companies to bring equipment and/or trucks as a backdrop along with an interactive activity. All high schools in Walton County will participate in this event.
Arrival time on October 25th will be 7:40AM. Buses will be coming in and out of the event area until 7:30AM, but any time after that is good to set up. We hope to begin as close to 8:15 AM as possible with plans to conclude by 12:00 PM. A light breakfast will be provided that day, sponsored by Dessa Morris, Development Authority of Walton County.
Before the day of the event, you will receive a map of where you will be and where to park. We are planning to be outside in front of the school in the bus lane. There will be a small amount of cover under the breezeway, but if you have a company tent you would like to set up that would be great. We have just a few portable tables we can provide. If you have tables that are easy for you to bring, that might also be helpful.
Please let us know if you need access to power in this form - we have limited access, and will take your needs into consideration when planning the layout.
