WHAT IS A SCHOOLWIDE PROGRAM?

It is a part of Title I, which is

the largest federal aid program

for our nation’s schools.

*A SCHOOLWIDE PROGRAM PROVIDES*

v Funds/resources for developing a high-quality curriculum for all students

v Instruction to students by a qualified staff

v Professional development for teachers and aides, and where appropriate, pupil services, personnel, parents, principals, and other staff training

v Activities that assist children in the transition from home to early childhood programs

v Opportunities for parents to take active roles in their children’s education

v Meetings, etc. for teachers and parents to discuss the performance of their child in relation to progress in school

v Training/workshops for parents/families

v Opportunities for school personnel and parents to be a part of the planning decision making process
