《Belgium Beers Master Class》19 Nov 2023 Registration Form (English Class) (Apologies for the inconvenience, due to low demand, we have made the decision to change the class to a Cantonese Class)

Belgium is renowned worldwide for its famous chocolates, beers, and waffles, with beer standing out as a deeply rooted and historically rich tradition. Often referred to as the kingdom of beer, Belgium boasts centuries-old brewing craftsmanship and a wide range of beer styles that are globally recognized for their exceptional quality. These traditional techniques and cultural practices continue to exert a significant influence to this day.

In 2016, UNESCO recognized Belgian beer culture as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Beer brewing and the associated cultural practices hold great importance in Belgium, with people taking immense pride in their beers and integrating them closely into their daily lives and social celebrations.

Belgian beers distinguish themselves from the neighboring German brewing culture by offering a diverse array of flavors. They embrace the addition of various spices, herbs, and fruits, resulting in unique and creative taste profiles. With approximately 430 breweries across the country, Belgium produces over 1,600 different beer styles and brands: From light to dark beers, fruit-infused brews, and sour ales, the variety found in bars and supermarkets is so extensive that it can be overwhelming to explore all at once.

The Consulate General of Belgium in Hong Kong is organizing the "Belgian Days" cultural event, which will be held at PMQ for seven consecutive days in mid-November. As part of this event, in collaboration with the PMQ Taste Library, they will host a "Belgian Beer Tasting Class." Led by international beer judge Kenneth Ho, participants will have the opportunity to sample various unique Belgian beer styles while delving into the rich beer culture of Belgium.
