If you would like the NATS accompanist to play for you, you will need to submit clean PDFs of your sheet music to RedwoodNATS@gmail.com

After we process your registration and sheet music submission, you'll receive an email containing your accompanist's contact details. This allows you the opportunity to schedule a rehearsal with them in advance, if desired.

Please note, any rehearsal time must be organized and funded by you, at a cost of $40 per half-hour (paid to your pianist). To ensure accompanists have sufficient availability, we strongly recommend scheduling rehearsals well before the week leading up to the competition.

You will be required to present an original copy of your sheet music upon check in at the front table. This means one of the following:

1. Hardbound anthology of music
2. Commercial copy of a song or song cycle
3. Physical print out of music purchased from a website like "sheetmusicplus" that says "purchased by" on the coversheet
4. If performing an original song for CCM, a signed and dated copy of your sheet music or lead-sheet. Lead-sheets can include a melody line with chords above, or a printed page of lyrics with chords.

Important Update on Sheet Music Requirements: In line with National NATS guidelines, you are now required to bring your original sheet music onstage during your performance. Upon arrival, please check in your sheet music at the front table; it will be returned to you immediately. Remember to carry the original sheet music with you both to your audition room and when you go onstage and bring it offstage after your performance. *
Please note that Sonoma State University mandates the purchase of a $5 parking permit for event attendees.

This permit enables multiple entries and exits from the SSU campus throughout the day, offering you the flexibility to leave and return as needed.

If you encounter any issues with the payment kiosk, please inform the NATS check in table.

Day-of Audition Details:
Auditions are scheduled to occur between approximately 10 AM and 3 PM. The duration may vary based on the number of participants. We typically start with the youngest singers and move towards the oldest. For those singing in multiple categories, we will take special care to stagger your audition times to accommodate all your performances. Please keep your schedule flexible for the entire day. Your specific audition times will be communicated to you two weeks prior to the event.

Clarification on Age Categories and Scholarship Recipients:

We group participants primarily by age, as well as by the number of entrants in each category. This ensures a manageable number of participants for the judges at any given time. For larger categories, we may split them into two separate audition times. Conversely, smaller categories might be merged and held concurrently.

Our adjudicators are asked to evaluate each singer based on their specific age range and skill level. For instance, a non-professional adult singer will be assessed differently compared to an adult actively pursuing or holding a music degree. Last year, there was some misunderstanding among participants who felt they were being compared to others who were not in their skill level or age group. We want to assure you that comparisons are made within each singer's designated category, not between different groups auditioning at the same time.

Master Class/Workshop Details:

We are excited to announce a masterclass/workshop scheduled between the conclusion of the adjudication process and the start of the finalist concert.

Selected participants for this session will be nominated by their respective adjudicators and will be informed of their nomination on the afternoon of the event. The workshop is planned to begin around 4:30 PM, though the exact time may vary depending on the length of the audition day. (So please plan to attend whether nominated or not.)

We warmly invite all students, teachers, parents, and family members to attend as audience members. Additionally, this invitation extends to those who did not participate in the day's auditions. This complimentary event, sponsored by NATS, offers an opportunity for everyone to gather, enjoy insights from our special presenter, and support fellow students in a welcoming and enjoyable setting.

This will take place in Schroeder Hall (SSU, GMC).

Finalist Concert Information:

For those in contention for scholarships, our judges will select 10-12 exceptional performances from the day, representing a balanced mix of all genres and age groups. These chosen performers will showcase their talents in an evening recital open to an audience. At the end of the concert, we will announce and award the scholarship prizes.

The concert is set to take place at Schroeder Hall (SSU, GMC). We invite family, friends, all participants, and teachers to join us as audience members. Admission is free. The concert is scheduled to start around 6:30 PM, although the exact time may depend on the length of the adjudication process earlier in the day.
