Offer Versus Serve (OVS) Waiver for SY 2020-21
On June 25, 2020, the USDA issued COVID–19: Child Nutrition Response #37, Nationwide Waiver to Allow Offer Versus Serve Flexibility for Senior High Schools in the National School Lunch Program for School Year 2020-2021.

Under normal circumstances, program operators of senior high schools must participate in OVS. However, FNS recognizes that for school year 2020-2021, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, waiving the offer versus serve requirement will support safe access to nutritious meals.

On March 9, 2021, the USDA released COVID Response #79:  Nationwide Waiver to Allow Offer Versus Serve Flexibilities in the Summer Food Service Program for Summer 2021 Operations

This waiver is effective July 1, 2020 and expires September 30, 2021 for the Seamless Summer Option (SSO).
If operating National School Lunch Program (NSLP), this waiver expires June 30, 2021.
