Open Data for Municipal Engagement; Transformative GIS technologies and strategies.

New GIS technologies are coming at us faster than ever before.  From Online maps to Hub Initiative pages, from mobile data collection to dashboards, municipalities have new opportunities to transform the way they engage with their staff and residents using not just maps, but integrated data and do-it-yourself analysis.  In the past 5 years Auburn, ME has begun to explore everything from mobile GIS, to real-time data and analysis in public meetings.  This talk will explore the successes and challenges of moving to a GIS-based Open Data strategy.
