EVA Dealer Letter Petition
Last fall, thousands of U.S. auto dealerships signed a letter calling on President Biden to scale back proposed environmental regulations that would speed up the transition to electric vehicles. The letter claims to "reflect the voice of [their] customers," yet the claims are a complete contradiction to consumer trends. Four-in-ten Americans say they are ready to go electric, and last year, U.S. EV sales reached a record-breaking 9.5 million vehicles. Leading U.S. automakers like General Motors, Ford and their lobbying association – the Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AAI) – are the ones standing in the way.

This spring, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will release new clean car standards that would require 67% of cars sold in the U.S. be all-electric by 2032 – a figure that is far less ambitious than GM’s own pledge to exclusively offer electric vehicles by 2035 and seemingly on track with Ford's public goal for 40%-50% of its global vehicle volume to be fully electric by 2030. Yet GM and Ford, represented by the AAI, are lobbying against these regulations that would further speed up the EV transition and reduce emissions, protecting the health of our communities.

The Electric Vehicle Association supports this EPA requirement that will speed up the all-electric transition. Sign our petition to tell automotive dealers, car companies, the EPA, and the Biden administration that drivers across the country support an all-electric future.
