Which seat are you interested in standing in? e.g. a Lower House Seat (Legislative Assembly) or for the Upper House (Legislative Council). *
Due to Party political strategy, you may be asked to run in a seat other than your initial preference. Do you agree to this? *
Are you applying to be endorsed as an 'active' election candidate, or a 'paper' candidate? *
An active election candidate must undertake full training on marketing and AJP policies. Active election candidates are permitted to attend candidate forums to represent the AJP, and manage their own official AJP social media accounts, among other campaign activities. A paper candidate lends their name and photo to the AJP for the ballot, but is not authorised to represent the AJP at candidate forums, manage a candidate social media page or pages, or answer questions sent to them from NGOs or advocacy groups etc. All queries directed to paper candidates will go instead to the election management team in your state or territory to be handled centrally. The advantages to the AJP in having paper candidates include: increasing our upper house vote; adding to our political capital; increasing our brand awareness and more. However please note that fully trained active candidates will nearly always be preferred over applications from individuals wishing to be a paper candidate.
I have read the VEC's qualification checklist and confirm that I am eligible to nominate as a candidate.  Checklist here >> https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/candidates-and-parties/become-a-state-election-candidate *
Examples of ineligibility include: a person who is not currently enrolled; is an undischarged bankrupt; have been convicted or found guilty of an offence punishable by five years’ jail or more, under Victorian or any Commonwealth nation’s law.  Please note that Victorian or Austrlalian Public Service employees may nominate as a candidate, however must resign if they are elected.
Current occupation and place of employment *
Are you a current financial member of the Animal Justice Party? *
Are you committed to the Party's charter and constitution? *
AJP has a clearly articulated charter (see website https://vic.animaljusticeparty.org/about) which outlines its vision for animal practices, welfare and conditions. All candidates must state their commitment to the constitution to be successfully considered as a candidate.
Are you committed to veganism? *
Candidates must be vegan and must commit to veganism for the duration of the election campaign. This commitment commences from the time the candidate is officially endorsed, until after the ballot is counted and results declared. If elected, representatives must be vegan for the duration of their term in office.
Ability to donate or fundraise for Electoral Commission candidate registration fees. *
Candidates are required to pay a fee equal to what the Party pays to the Electoral Commission in order to run in this election (unless selected to run for the Upper House, in which case the Party pays the fee). Candidates who win over 4% of total primary votes in the seat they run in can have their registration fee returned, or the fee can remain as a tax-deductible donation to the Party. Candidate fees for the Victorian State Election are approximately $300.
I understand all requirements and certify that I fulfil the candidacy requirements of the AJP and the Victorian Electoral Commission. *

All employers are required to make ‘reasonable’ adjustments for a person with disability, which includes: physical, psychological or neurological disease or disorder illness, whether temporary or permanent injury, including work-related injuries. The Animal Justice Party seeks to learn more about our candidates so that as a Party we can, where possible, assist those with physical or mental health disabilities in their candidacy or election. However, you have no legal obligation to tell us about your disability. An alternative to answering this question here is to discuss the support you may need directly with the campaign team in your state, or to contact the National Secretary secretary@animaljusticeparty.org.
If yes to the above, please provide supporting statements.
