Program Description:
The High School Matinee Program has been providing Baltimore City students access to
Everyman's productions completely free of charge since 1997. As our flagship education
program, we have created deep and lasting relationships with local high schools, teachers,
and students over the past 25 years.

Program Goals:

1. FOSTER an appreciation and understanding of theatre through repeat exposure to
Everyman Theatre’s entire season.
2. EXPLORE the themes and content of each story through activity and discussion.
3. BUILD school and classroom community through patronage.
4. PROVIDE a safe artistic home for students to grow as individuals through reflection
and analysis of work.
5. CULTIVATE & ILLUMINATE empathy for the human condition and cultural
perspectives.
6. MAKE & DEVELOP connections between the artists’ work and the audience’s
experience.
Outcomes:
1. GROW confidence and comfort in attending a theatrical performance.
2. ARTICULATE & REFLECT personal connections to the work onstage.

Program Detail: Every student in each classroom receives-
1. A PRE-SHOW WORKSHOP preparing students for the theatre-going experience unique
to that particular production with a dynamic Everyman Teaching Artist.
2. COMPREHENSIVE & INTERACTIVE PLAY GUIDE for teachers and students alike. The
Play Guide functions as a resource providing critical context before, during, and
after each production. The guides are delivered two weeks prior to our classroom
workshops.
3. ACCESS to 4 productions in the Everyman Season.
4. POST- SHOW CLASSROOM VISIT WITH PRODUCTION ARTISTS to facilitate reflection.
