The C5 Youth Foundation program is a five-year leadership development program which consist of summer experiences, year-round events & community involvement opportunities, and individual responsibilities that prepares young people to be:

We want to make the application process as clear as possible. Please take your time reading and understanding the instructions and the questions. Complete each question as thoroughly and directly as you can.
As part of the application we ask for you to submit transcripts, letters of recommendation, an essay and for you to answer several questions about yourself. We highly recommend that you prepare answers to the written portions offline so that you can easily transfer your answers when they are ready. Be mindful that you are unable to save any responses to the application, so at the time of submission see that all of your application answers/materials are ready. Contact your school counselor for any information regarding your middle school grades. We ask for a digital submission, so that may mean obtaining a scanned document (if it is printed) that you can email to us at
recruitment@c5texas.org. Please make sure to include your name and the document you are sending in the email. Example: Jane Doe- Report Card
Why do I want to be a Leader?
This questions has a word-count of 150 words and should reflect why you are looking to become a leader. This portion doesn't need to be pre-written and uploaded, but you should think about your response before answering the question.
“Describe the most difficult experience in your life. What happened? How did you overcome this situation? What did you learn about yourself in the process? How have you grown from it?” This question is no longer required to complete as a part of your application. During the interview process, please be prepared to answer this questions.
How many letters of recommendation do I need?
One to three letters of recommendation from people who know you well and can describe why you are a good candidate for a leadership program. Coaches, teachers, mentors, pastors, and youth leaders are good choices. Recommendations may NOT come from friends, family members or the person who nominated you. Yes! Your parent(s)/guardians must be aware of your application and that you intend to submit. There is a section at the bottom that requires your parents to sign, thereby acknowledging the application and the responsibilities that come with participation in C5 Texas. We highly recommend you and your parents to reach out to C5 Texas with any questions or concerns regarding the program. Anything we can do to make you and your family more comfortable with the program we will be glad to address it.
General Selection Timeline:
Online applications open from October 1 – April 20th
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on April 20th to be eligible for consideration.
