ABOUT CURRENTS
Currents is named after the river for which STLCC-Meramec is named. Like the ripples upon the water, Currents is a reflection of the lives in the Meramec community. Our literary magazine exists to encourage open thought, free expression, and to document the experiences and creative journeys of Meramec's talented students.

Our mission for this year’s issue of Currents is to provide a platform for the honest, unfiltered voices of students surviving through this unprecedented era. To do that, we need help from writers, artists, and more!
WORKING WITH CURRENTS
As an editor of Currents, here's some of the exciting things you can look forward to doing this year:

     - Work alongside a team of other passionate student editors who believe in the power of creative expression and building community through art and writing

     - Read and evaluate student-submitted works for publication in print and online for the 2021 issue of Currents

     - Edit student-submitted works ethically, with the goal of clarifying and preserving, rather than modifying or reducing

     - Help design a website to showcase Meramec student art and writing digitally for years to come

The Currents Editorial Board presently meets on Wednesday at 3:30pm through Blackboard Collaborate as necessary, typically weekly. In addition to attending meetings, editors will be expected to read and evaluate pieces each week in order to work through our high volume of submissions in a timely fashion.

This year, Currents' deadline for Fall Priority Submissions is December 13th. Currents' deadline for Spring Final Submissions is February 14th. As such, students should expect to read a higher volume of submissions shortly after these deadlines.

(NOTE: As fellow students, we understand how hectic the life of a student is, especially when the world of today may look very different than the world of tomorrow. Our availability and business changes throughout the semester, and with a whole mountain of other things to worry about, it's easy to get buried. As such, we are more than willing to accommodate changes in availability and responsibilities as things change in the school year. All we ask is that you take care of yourself first!)
