Call for Dark Odyssey Fusion 2024 Volunteers
Dark Odyssey Fusion 2024 registration is open! It's time to recruit volunteers, without whom this magical event wouldn't be possible. We are looking for people who are helpful, positive, and willing to go the extra mile.

Many of the jobs that keep camp running smoothly are handled by the chore system. However, there are a few, more difficult jobs that require the attention and focus of select individuals. Dark Odyssey has over the years used these positions as a way to provide scholarships for folks that may not be financially capable of attending a big community gathering. So we often prioritize new requests for financial assistance over those who have had the opportunity to volunteer before. You will be expected to work approximately 2 hours for every day you receive half-registration comp. This is generally 8 hours for the initial Friday through Monday registration and 2 hours for each additional day.  

This Form is the application for volunteers for this event. Please fill out this application as fully as possible. Once you submit this form you will be contacted if we can offer you a position. Only half comps of the entry fee will be given, except in extreme situations, which will be handled on a per-case basis. You will be responsible for your lodging and meals.

Sometimes volunteers continue to be needed up to a week before camp, so it is difficult to know when we are "done" filling spots. Thank you for understanding.

NOTE: we cannot accommodate specific scheduling needs because it gets too complicated. Make sure if you are applying you aren't overextending yourself with other duties (demo bottoming, presenting, running a cabin, etc).

Job Openings: Each of these jobs needs several people. 

Space Flippers
Working with our head space flipper to get our spaces transitioned from day to night and back again! You will work two shifts per day, one prior to classes and one after classes. This position requires physical movement with the possibility of needing to lift up to 50lbs, and for you to attend camp Tuesday through Monday.

Parking Lot Attendants
Responsible for working with the Parking Lot Supervisor to manage the main parking lot at camp and ensure the parking lot stays organized. This position requires you to be available Tuesday through Friday, working one 4 hour shift each day. 

Overnight Gate Security
Personing the gate overnight to make sure we have no unwanted entry. This is a great position for a person who is a night owl or an early morning bird.  This is also a great position for a group of 2-4 people to camp at the gate. You must attend for the entire event, Tuesday through Monday.

Playspace Monitors
Working under our head PM to monitor the dungeon play spaces. This position requires prior PM experience and verifiable references.

Dining Hall Attendants
Checking wristbands as people enter the dining hall or serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner to hungry attendees.

Dining Hall Custodians
These folks bus and wipe down tables, sweep and mop floors, straighten chairs, and fill condiments and get the dining hall looking great after meals.

Laundry Folder
We need folks to assist laundry staff with sorting, folding, packaging, or distributing clean laundry during the week Thursday - Sunday (midday each day), OR Monday after camp for 8 hours (9am-5pm). Let us know in the notes if you are looking for during the week, Monday after camp, or if you are available for either.

Water Cooler Fillers
Keeping our campers hydrated by filling up the water coolers throughout the day. This position requires lifting 5 gallon water jugs (approximately 30 pounds) and for you to attend camp Tuesday through Monday.

Infusion Cafe
A fun and lively place that offers service with a smile, the Dark Odyssey Infusion Cafe, is great for attendees with food or service experience.  There are many positions from food prep and sandwich construction, to crafting lattes and washing dishes. 

Program Ops Assistant
Delivering supplies to presenters, checking in on presenters at the end of their classes, and returning supplies to HQ or their original location after the class has ended. This job requires physical movement and the possibility of needing to lift up to 50lbs. The shifts are in four-hour blocks. This position requires you to attend camp all week.
