Teen Theatre Program

Workshops will take place via ZOOM starting January 10, 2021.
8 Sundays at 12:00 p.m. NY time/ 7:00 p.m. Israel time.
Each session is 90 minutes long.

Ages 13-16

CONNECT TO ASPIRING YOUNG ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR AN IMMERSION OF CREATIVE JEWISH TEXT STUDY, SPOKEN WORD AND PERFORMANCE

Join us on a journey to create a spoken word piece about your life and this moment. Through exposure to creative Jewish text study and leading international change-maker artists, you will learn how to perform so that  your unique voice and words will be heard. Come learn how to tell your story in a way that draws attention to the issues you most care about and hope to create change in.

Over the course of eight weeks, young artists from around the globe will connect virtually and meet other like-minded teens in a way like never before. Through accessing their personal stories and the texts of their shared heritage they will learn how to speak up and speak loud!

A program of JCC Global, LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, 14th Street Y JCC, The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, Edlavitch DC Jewish community center, YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood, With the generous support of the Covenant Foundation.

The program includes a curated schedule of:
Text study classes
Creative writing classes
Artist presentations - Masterclasses including Renana Raz and System Ali and more
Global JCC session
Acting classes
1 Final live performance of final project with guest artist presentation

GLOBAL MONOLOGUES is open to a limited number of participants in order to develop a sense of privacy, intimacy and risk-taking environment. There will be an application process. ENGLISH is a pre-requirement as we will study and connect through English, though the final project can be performed in your native tongue.
