AERO is once again offering a free 21 week self-learning "challenge" exploring Racial Equity in the Food System. Racial inequities in the food system can lead to unfair differences in terms of healthy food access in communities, access to land for farming or starting a food business, and risks for diet-related diseases. This challenge is based on the 21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge by Food Solutions New England. We offer the same content, but instead of working through the challenge in 21 consecutive days, we spread it out over 21 weeks. Our hope is this will make it easier to integrate into your schedule, and give you the time to more-fully engage with the material. 

This year we are particularly encouraging business and organization staff to participate together, making time in your work schedule to gather regularly for an hour or so, and share your experience. Creating the space and common language for talking about race is an essential first step to the exploration of developing a racial equity plan for your team and business.

HOW IT WORKS: 

Starting July 9th, you'll receive an email with a short message and a link to the week's prompt. The prompt includes links to articles, videos, interviews, and tools to help raise your awareness, change your understanding, and inspire action. Extra resources are offered, in case you want to dig further into the topic. The rest is up to you: Make time to read, to explore, to reflect. Find ways to act. Be willing to be honest and vulnerable in your sharing. Accept that this is a long, complex, evolving journey. There is no right or wrong way to do this work. Be compassionate with your process.
