This working group draws together faculty, postdocs and graduate students from across and beyond campus, who consider the material manifestations of writing broadly construed—books, magazines, letters, monuments—, as well as the performative practices of writing, reading, music-making and collecting as creative acts of knowledge production and cultural memory.
Our interests encompass current and past public and scholarly discourses about books; the study of writing and record-keeping more generally; material and virtual forms of publication; historical and past interpretive communities; and books without words, such as artists’ books. These interests inform our own practices of writing, which we will also explore together.
You are invited to join us in any or all of the upcoming 2020-2021 events. Please rsvp below (you will be able to add to/change your responses if needed by choosing "Edit you response" even after you submit).
