Welcome to the Easton Cyber Academy Middle School (ECA) program! In order to ensure your student’s success, it is critical that you are aware of various requirements, recommendations, and expectations of students enrolled in our cyber program.

Easton Area School District reserves the right to transfer your student back to the brick and mortar building, if the student does not maintain participation and educational requirements set forth in this document and program.

Due to the method of delivery for this form of education, we strongly need the parent/guardian’s commitment to this program and its requirements to ensure success.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities:

I understand that the ECA program is primarily asynchronous in nature and self paced. I understand that the program is not taught by a live teacher 100% of the time.
In order to support student learning, I understand that each student must have a learning coach at home. The learning coach is the individual primarily responsible for student learning.
I understand that the student will have access to their teacher through scheduled check-in times and office hours.
I understand that the student may be required to participate in live virtual instruction via Zoom.
DAILY ATTENDANCE- In order to comply with PA and EASD attendance requirements, all students are required to log in to their language arts cyber course each school day between the hours of 12AM and 1PM for attendance purposes. In order for attendance to be logged by the Edgenuity learning management system, students must be actively working on a lesson or an assignment in the language arts course for no less than 5 minutes. Students who do not log into a lesson or assignment in their language arts course will be marked absent. This includes internet and power outages. If a student is struggling, I understand that the ECA program may require the student’s attendance on specific days at the brick and mortar building. Attendance at the brick and mortar building will be at scheduled times and/or on an appointment basis. Some reasons may include but are not limited to the following:

Students who fall more than 5 school days behind in math or language arts
Students do not maintain at least a 60% in math or language arts
Students who have excessive absences

In order to maintain adequate pacing in subjects, students should follow weekly teacher pacing for all courses. This will likely mean that students are working in each subject every school day. To be successful, students should spend 4-6 hours per day engaging in school work.This may be a combination of live sessions with their teacher, instruction provided by the learning coach at home, and digital and/or paper/pencil activities.
Parents/guardians are expected to monitor their student’s progress on a daily basis. Progress is available in real time via the Edgenuity learning management system.
To help ensure student success, parents/guardians are expected to be in communication with their child’s teacher on a consistent basis. Please ensure that ECA has up to date contact information.
In the interest of student success, parents/guardians are responsible for their student’s participation in district testing as well as state-mandated testing as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (STAR,PSSA,KEYSTONE).

Failure to meet these expectations may result in the removal of your student from the ECA program and return to brick and mortar programming.
