Brainspotting Training: Attuning to Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Experiences
A Curated Experience
We seek to hold space for all mental health professionals who are committed to reduce the presence and impact of the oppressor’s racist narratives that are built into the very fabric of USA, Canadian societies and the world at large.
This is not an attempt to solely shield us from unpleasant experiences and traumatic experiences but rather to create an environment where all professionals can be vulnerable and learn without fear of the ever present race based microaggressions and macroaggressions. While this space emphasizes race based dynamics, we also attend to experiences of microaggressions and macroaggressions across all forms of oppression..
This training environment facilitates critical discussions of clinical approaches, modalities and the lived experiences of clients and professionals in the context of experiential learning. We focus on those emotionally wounded in BIPOC communities and envision healing and recovery to be provided by professionals who are members of BIPOC communities and allies.
We honor our ancestors and traditions in this training space.
Please do not expect perfection but honest attempts at seeing and being with each other.
As a diverse group of professionals, we work together in each training to make this happen while acknowledging that we may harbor within us the narratives that the oppressor has told us about each other and ourselves.
