"Fandom Voices" is a project that is part of the new Silmarillion Writers' Guild newsletter column "Cultus Dispatches," which offers perspectives on Tolkien fandom history and culture (https://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/cultus-dispatches). As part of this project, we will ask fans to share their experiences of a particular aspect of the Tolkien fandom or its history.

For this specific column, we are looking for responses from fans who were part of the Tolkien fandom before either or both of the Peter Jackson film trilogies.
