We have a limited number of spots due to time constraints so there is a chance that we will cut off the form if we receive a surplus amount of sign-ups. Again, please check your calendar and make sure you can make the rehearsals and show day before you sign up. Rehearsals: February 28th (act one) and 29th (act two).
The Talent Show itself will be on Friday, March 1st at 6:30pm. Should your child want to audition, the following guidelines will help you prepare them.....
1) Is the student prepared? (It should be thought out, planned, and practiced.)
2) Is the act appropriate for elementary school? (This applies to song lyrics, dance moves and skit subjects. Can we understand what’s going on? Does it work for a large audience? No bad language.)
3) Has each group member completed this Google form for contact information and permission?
(Suggestions for acts: Recite poetry, act out a skit, play a musical instrument, dance, sing, tell jokes, gymnastics, martial arts, choreographed cheers.)
Rules:
- No lip syncing (this means pretending to sing and/or sing along with a singer on a recording). You must have a background CD, piano accompaniment or sing a cappella (without accompaniment). You can usually find a
karaoke version online. You must provide your own music and a copy of the lyrics. If you're using music and have a digital copy, email it to @talentshow@gespta.org
- Acts are limited to 3 minutes.
- We will provide a microphone, sound system and piano. All other instruments and props must be brought from home. You must use microphones provided by the school.
- Acts may NOT change in the time between auditions.
- Students may only be in up to two acts due to time constraints.
Please talk with your child about their act. Have them perform it for you. Please make sure they are fully prepared for auditions. If they are singing, please make sure they have a copy of the lyrics and their own music (CD or a digital file) for auditions. Once permission slips are turned in, you will get a sign up genius link sent to the email you provided with time slot options for your audition. Auditions will begin after school and last until 6 or later, depending on how many participants we have. You will be assigned to a 5 minute time slot for your audition so you must be ready. Parents must be present for auditions unless arrangements have been made with the Talent Show Committee and EDP.
