TRAFFIC SURVEY FOR ORCHARD PARK RESIDENTS 2024

Orchard Park suffers from a number of traffic-related problems. Problems reported to us include speeding traffic; dangerous parking on pavements and bends; cars being blocked in, in busier areas like Unwin Square; the use of Orchard Park as a ‘free car park’ by college students, commuters and business park users.

Last year we asked you about the introduction of a 20mph speed limit in Orchard Park. There was overwhelming support for this and it has been included as part of Cambridge City’s overall project to reduce speed limits to 20mph. Now we would like to hear your views on other aspects of traffic management within Orchard Park.

The introduction of a Civil Parking Enforcement Scheme at the start of 2024 has seen parking wardens out and about in Orchard Park, ticketing those who are parked unlawfully.

There are two particular considerations to take into account when you respond. Traffic restrictions are very costly to introduce. The Community Council’s funds to support traffic management measures are limited so we really need to understand your priorities. Sometimes, traffic management measures can have undesirable consequences. For example, clearing vehicles from one location may lead to problems in another, equally unsuitable location. Putting double yellow lines on both sides of a stretch of road may lead to speeding.

Please spend 5 minutes of your time to answer the following questions:

The survey will close on 5 April 2024.
