2022-2023 WSES 5th and 6th Grade Choir
We would love to invite you to join the 5th and 6th Grade choir program at West Springfield Elementary! Choir is open to all 5th and 6th grade students at WSES and no choral experience is required. Students have the option to participate in choir while also playing an instrument in either band OR strings.
Choir will be held for 30-45 minutes once a week for both 5th and 6th grade students.
Requirements:

* Parents will be responsible for purchasing their child's choir shirt. Information will be sent home at the start of the year. Shirts will cost between $15-$18 and parents will be able to make their purchase online. If for any reason this is an issue, please feel free to reach out to me.

* Students will have the opportunity to attend two after school concert performances opportunities (dates TBD). Possible additional performance opportunities might arise, but they will be strictly voluntary.

* Before concerts, students will need to attend at least one before and/or after school rehearsal.  If your child is unable to attend this dress rehearsal, please make sure to let us know. More information will be provided concerning times and dates.

* Each student will need to have black pants or a long skirt and black closed toed shoes for performances. For safety reasons, students may not wear flip flops to the concert.

*** The Fairfax County Public Schools Music Program of Studies requires the performance of literature that is both sacred and secular. Balance of music selected and performed from among historical and contemporary composers, genres and periods is achieved through the course of a year’s instruction and not within any individual concert.
