Background
BMG is a nonprofit organization that provides cultural enrichment programming for Baltimore City Public School students, culminating in a study abroad excursion. Our mission is to provide Baltimore’s students access to educational experiences abroad to develop empathetic, action-oriented global citizens who can communicate and connect across a wide variety of cultures.

The BMG Board of Directors will elect members to serve four-year terms on the Board of Directors at its annual retreat on January 9, 2021. Board members are eligible for re-election perpetually.
Responsibilities
Board members make a serious commitment to participate actively in BMG committee work. This is a working board where each member serves on at least one committee and each member of the executive committee chairs a committee.

Board meetings occur every two months on the last Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:30 am, and committee meetings occur on a monthly basis.

With the exception of family or personal emergencies, members are expected to not miss more than one Board meeting and two committee meetings per year.

BMG hosts five summer interns for a 9-week internship program each summer. Board members are encouraged, though not required, to support interns either by serving as a 1:1 mentor or as a project support, providing technical guidance, as needed, on specific student projects.

All Board members are expected to give annually. The dollar amount of the donation is not important; however, maintaining 100% Board giving is important to BMG to demonstrate that Board members aren’t just seat holders but are passionate enough about the mission of the organization to put their financial resources behind it.

Able to attend Board meetings held every two months on the last Saturday, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.
