2022-23 BCS Grades 4-8  "Acceptable Use Policy" AUP (Technology Agreement)
Bethany Christian School (BCS) allows me to use computers and access the internet for school work. My behavior and language should follow the same rules I follow in my classroom and in my school. I agree to the following statements below.

#1: I will use the computers and my BCS login ID/password only to do school work, as explained to me by my teacher, and not for any other reason. I will not use a school computer for personal or illegal purposes. *
#2: I will use the INTERNET only in ways the teacher has approved. *
#3: I will not give my password to anyone else, and I will not ask for or use anyone else’s password. *
#4: I will not type my address or telephone number, or any other personal information about myself or anyone else on internet sites, unless directed by my teacher. *
#5: I will not upload, link, or embed an image of myself or others to public sites. *
#6:  I will be polite and considerate when I use the computer. I will not use it to annoy, be mean to, frighten, tease, or make fun of anyone. I will not use swear words or other rude language. *
#7: I will not use the computer to bully or threaten anyone, including teachers, schoolmates or other children. *
#8: I will not try to see, send, or upload anything that says and or shows bad or mean things about anyone's race, religion or gender. *
#9: I will not open, copy, change, delete, or damage files or folders on the computers, ipads, network or other storage devices that are not mine. I will not share any files or media with others without permission.

#10: I will not damage the computer or anyone else's work. Also, I will tell any adult if there is damage to the school’s computer hardware. *
#11: I will not have food or drink nearby when using digital/electronic devices.

#12:  If I have or see a problem, I will not try to fix it myself, but I will tell the teacher. If the problem is an inappropriate image I will turn off the monitor and then seek help. *
#13: I will not access chat rooms, games, instant messaging, social networking sites, blogs, and email except for designated classroom activities and under the supervision of my teacher. (Google Hangouts is an exception if used for connect with other BCS students.) *
#14: I will not break copyright rules or take credit for anyone else’s work. When I represent other people’s work as my own, it is plagiarism. *
#15: My computer use is not private. The administration or my teachers may look at my account/email/work at any time to be sure that I am following these rules. If I am not, there will be consequences which may include not being able to use the computer or suspension. *
#16:  I understand that personal devices (laptops, phones, iPods, iPads, Apple watches, e-readers, etc.) are brought to school at my risk. BCS is not responsible for theft or damage to the device. *
#17: These are the replacement costs if I damage school property: Entire Chromebook $225. Chromebook screen $150. Keyboard $75. Chromebook touchpad $35. Classroom headphones $9. Chromebook case $20. *
