Hello and thank you for your interest in volunteering with GrowBoston for our seedling distribution! We are piloting a new project to connect low-income residents and community gardeners with extra seedlings from local farms. We need your help to drive seedlings from various farms to various gardens throughout Boston.
Transporting seedlings requires a vehicle, so you must have access to a car or other vehicle in order to volunteer for this portion. The commitment will involve driving to a farm, loading trays of seedlings into your vehicle, and driving them to a designated drop-off location. Depending on the size of your vehicle, this may take multiple trips. This opportunity will take place on a few different dates during the month of May and June.
Volunteers may want to consider a tarp or other protection for the inside of their vehicle, considering seedlings may shift during travel and spill soil. Please reach out to emily.reckardmota@boston.gov and/or alexa.kwon@boston.gov with any questions or concerns!
If you do not have a car and would still like to volunteer, we are looking for volunteers to help distribute seedlings, greet guests, and answer gardening questions on the seedling give away dates. Please sign up below if you are interested!
