We, the employees at GEICO, are a united group of dedicated insurance adjusters, agents, and associates, committed to producing excellent work for our insureds while improving our work life balance and working conditions.
We work hard to deliver quality service for our insureds and it’s impossible for GEICO to function without us and maintain its reputation as a top insurance company in the nation.
We know our work and our value, and all of us are committed to securing a fair return to office policy. We want a workplace that values us as employees and establishes an environment where employees are recognized with fairness and respect.
The current return to office policy causes unnecessary amounts of stress and mental fatigue. Employees are constantly contracting illnesses and not being told when they have been exposed to such disease as COVID-19. The office has innumerable distractions which drops productivity and ruins focus. Furthermore, the current return to office policy lacks a wage compensation for the commute, childcare, and other extra expenses that working away from home causes.
Management has failed to prove that working from home has caused a downfall in productivity or that there is a business reason for employees to return to the office. With the technology available to us that allows employees to work from home, there is no reason for the current return to office policy. GEICO can and should take the lead as a major corporation in establishing an employee work life balance. Changing the return to office policy will allow employees to be more productive and will greatly reduce employee absences. Work from home will also reduce our environmental footprint and number of drivers on the road.
In this way, to promote a safer, more productive, and more economical working environment, we present this petition to reestablish the July 2023 return to office guidelines for all associates, or no more than 8 days in the office per month, whichever is less.
We demand a revision to the current return to office guidelines so that all employees, adjusters, agents, and associates, can benefit from a work life balance that will make them more productive and confident while on the clock.
