Thank you for your interest in applying to be a member.  We have over 800 members and their families in our community and are always looking for new, smiling faces.

Some of the benefits to Slovenska Pristava membership are:

• Members have 24/7 access to the grounds.  
• We have 77 acres of pristine land with river access and walking trails.  
• We are in the heart of Ohio’s wine land.  
• The grounds are gated and video monitored for security.
• Our chapel is breathtaking and humbling to walk through.
• Members are not charged a gate fee for Slovenska Pristava sponsored events.
• In the summer, there is an event almost every weekend.  
• Many events have polka bands playing.
• Only members can rent the pool pavilion, picnic grounds and the banquet hall.
• Private cabins (restrictions apply).
• Members can join clubs such as Pensioners, Balinca (Bocce Ball) and Volleyball.
• Slovenska Pristava is a safe, fun place for children.  
• There is a large playground and putt-putt that children can enjoy.
• The pool is amazing with a children’s playground and two slides.
• Members can enroll their children in Camp Pristava which occurs in July.
• The food and beverages are reasonably priced.
• And let us not forget, there is no other place where you can get the World Famous Pristava Burger!

Most important of all, Members of Slovenska Pristava belong to an organization that was created to perpetuate our Slovenian heritage.  We choose to be active members of something bigger than ourselves and part of a larger community.  Many long-term friendships have been forged through the existence of Slovenska Pristava.  We, as members, are part of a larger sphere of families who respect the culture and heritage from which we all came.  Pristava allows us to work together to keep the strength of our Slovenian community alive and moving into the future.

Slovenska Pristava exists for everyone with a Slovenian heart to enjoy friends, music, food, fresh air and a Slovenian atmosphere.


Slovenska Pristava History

Slovenska Pristava is a private club for Slovenian Catholics in the United States.  It was founded by a group of refugees from Slovenia after the Communists took over their homeland.  Escaping to the United States, these refugees combined their efforts to bring a taste of the beautiful landscapes of Slovenia to their new homeland.

Tucked away in the countryside near Geneva, Ohio, Slovenska Pristava has become a place of relaxation and respite from the daily grind for many Slovenian-Americans and their families and friends.

After World War II a new wave of immigrants from Slovenia came to Cleveland.  They settled in the city mostly around the two Slovenian parishes: St. Vitus and St. Mary of the Assumption.

Within the corporation are also other clubs like the Pensioners, Campers and Balinca (Bocce Ball) Players.  They all have their own events and contribute to the life and fun on Slovenska Pristava.


Volunteering

Slovenska Pristava would not exist without its volunteers.  There are plenty of opportunities to help out throughout the year.

Some of the areas for volunteering are:
• Spring cleanup
• Events – prep, main gate, bar, kitchen, etc.
• Pool gate
• Maintenance & construction
• Board member
