The Sioux Falls School District is celebrating 150 years of providing high-quality public education to the students and families who call this community home. Our neighborhood schools are woven into the fabric of this great city and have drawn a close-knit community of learners together through the early days of pioneering settlement, the strife of World Wars, drought, economic boom, and most recently a pandemic. Through the years, classrooms became family rooms where parents sent their children to learn and grow toward a better future - a better life.
The 150th Anniversary Planning Committee chose the theme "Rooted in the Past ~ Reaching for the Future" to mark the occasion and chose a tree as its symbol of celebration. Trees are a reminder of strength, hope, and growth. These are the same resilient characteristics we hope to instill in the lives of each student in the Sioux Falls School District.
Please consider a donation to the 150th Anniversary Tree Planting. Your gift to the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation will purchase a tree to be planted on the property of each school during a special ceremony. Students, staff, families, and the community will celebrate the history of their own school during the month of September, while also celebrating the District's 150th Anniversary with an engaging outdoor event, to which donors will be invited to attend. Under "Choose Campaign," select Sioux Falls School District 150th Anniversary Tree Planting.
