Strategic Plan Feedback Form  (Stage 1)
Aloha and thank you for helping us gather your feedback for our new university strategic plan.  This feedback form is intended to help us gather your thoughts, ideas and suggestions on the themes that we should prioritize in our new strategic plan for Chaminade University.

Please take a few minutes to share your mana'o (your thoughts, ideas, beliefs) on the most important future priorities for our university as a whole.  In doing so, we ask that you consider far more than your own individual role, interests and/or affiliation within the university; rather, we ask that you reflect upon the Chaminade community as a whole and discern the most important themes on which you believe we must focus in order to continue to manifest our mission, values and commitments far into the future and with greater impact for those whom we serve.

Please respond to each of the prompts below and use the opened-ended questions to share any additional thoughts you may have.  If you would like to understand the broader strategic planning process in more detail, please refer to the Strategic Plan Announcement.

S.O.A.R. ANALYSIS

As a first step in eliciting structured feedback to develop themes for our future strategic plan, we will be using an analytical framework known by its acronym of SOAR.  This stands for Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations & Results.  Each of these categories asks you to consider a number of questions as a first step in considering potential themes for our strategic plan.  Please review the graphic outlining these categories below and respond to each of the category prompts which follow.  Remember, responses should be your feedback in your own words, but the scope of your answers should consider the university as a whole and not just your role and areas of concern.
Strengths: In your opinion, what are Chaminade's most significant strengths?  As you answer this question, you may want to consider the following: What are Chaminade’s most compelling areas of excellence; what are our university’s greatest accomplishments; what are we most proud of; what makes us particularly distinctive or unique? (50 words max)
Opportunities: In your opinion, what are Chaminade's most significant opportunities as an institution of higher education in Hawaii and the Pacific?  As you answer this question, you may want to consider the following: What community needs is Chaminade uniquely suited to address; how can we build upon our unique strengths; with whom can we partner to realize our opportunities (community organizations; local businesses; Catholic schools, etc.); where can we invest in order to have the greatest potential impact? (50 words max)
Aspirations: In your opinion, to what should Chaminade aspire over the next 5 or even 10 years?  As you answer this question, you may want to consider the following: What kind of university do we want to be in 5-10 years; what future characteristics do we want to be able to promote about ourselves; who do we want to emulate; what do we want our stakeholders to experience; what do we want to achieve that is new or different? (50 words max)
Results: In your opinion, what results or outcomes will show that we have succeeded in strengthening and improving our university?  As you answer this question, you may want to consider the following: How will we know that we have improved in 5 years; what potential outcomes would indicate success; how will we assess or measure our success; who should benefit most from our success and in what ways? (50 words max)
POTENTIAL THEMES & PRIORITIES

With your thoughts and responses to the S.O.A.R. framework in mind, please provide your thoughts on some resultant strategic themes and priorities for our strategic plan by responding to the prompts below.  Your responses in this section will help us to identify salient themes and priorities that will inform the next stage of the strategic planning process and focus the work of the university task forces who will be studying these areas in much greater detail.
Strategic Themes Worth Exploring in More Detail: In reviewing more than 50 other strategic plans from universities with similarities to Chaminade, we find a pattern of common strategic themes that have been selected by other universities for their own strategic plans.  While this is not an exhaustive list and we are likely to explore themes and strategic priorities outside of these common university foci, we would like your feedback on those themes below that you deem most relevant.  Please check the box next to those themes that you consider most critical for consideration as we develop our future strategic plan.  If there is a theme not listed that you feel is critical to include, please add it with the "Other" checkbox and enter your own theme.
Single Most Important Strategic Priority: Over the last five years, Chaminade has had a number of overarching strategic priorities as described in our current strategic plan, Ke Ala Mua.   In your opinion, and in your own words, what should be Chaminade's single most important strategic priority over the next five years?  Please state your recommended priority and provide an explanation of your reasoning. (50 words max)
Potential Strategic Initiative/Program: Based on your response above, consider what specific initiative, program or intervention would help address the "single most important strategic priority" that you chose.  This is an opportunity to suggest specific actions for the university to consider as an objective of our future strategic plan.  Examples might include the creation of a new academic or co-curricular program; the establishment of a new campus office; new campus facilities; new or improved forms of outreach or support; new funding priorities; or anything else that you believe would serve to advance an important strategic priority for the university. (50 words max)
Any Additional Feedback: If you have any additional feedback to share, please include it below.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on our upcoming strategic plan.  Your input will be used to identify and select a set of strategic themes that will then be studied in much greater detail by a series of university task forces.  These task forces -- made up of a representative cross-section of university stakeholders -- will conduct additional research and outreach to develop targeted reports and recommendations to inform the next stage of the strategic planning process.

Please know that all feedback submitted via this form will be reviewed and receive serious consideration.  Please also know that we will likely only able to select a fraction of the hundreds of themes that will be suggested over the course of the bottom-up feedback process.  If your individual feedback is not prioritized in the task force themes or the final strategic plan, you should know that it does not mean that your suggestions were not seen as important; rather, it simply means that there were likely other, slightly more salient priorities that we chose to emphasize in light of our limited resources and energy available to devote to our future strategic priorities.

Mahalo for participating in this process!
