Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices Video Series Cohort
Thank you for expressing interest in this professional learning opportunity!

The purpose of this cohort is to increase Kentucky educators' awareness of and ability to engage students in the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices.

Participants should be classroom teachers currently teaching in a K-12 classroom in Kentucky.

Selected participants will:
1. Engage in a workshop about the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing’s Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices;
2. Form a community of K-12 literacy educators to share best practices and experiences across Kentucky;
3. Be featured in a short, professionally produced video published on KyStandards.org to demonstrate students engaging in the Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices;
4. Share learning about the Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices and the project outcomes with local PLC, school, and/or administration; and
5. Receive a stipend of $600 for completion of the cohort objectives.

Participants will be working with the elementary and secondary Reading and Writing consultants at the Kentucky Department of Education's Office of Teaching and Learning within the Division of Program Standards.

This learning experience will take place from September 2023 to April 2024 with a final meeting in summer 2024 to review the videos created and reflect on the experience. Selected participants will engage in one (1) in-person orientation in September 2023 followed by five (5) online, synchronous monthly meetings in preparation to feature educators facilitating student engagement with the Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices.

Depending on district policies, participants may receive up to 15 hours of professional development credit. Please work with your district or principal to determine if these hours are eligible.

There are a limited number of spots available for this cohort. Educators interested in this opportunity should complete the Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices Video Series Cohort application no later than Wednesday, August 23. Selected participants will be notified on Wednesday, August 30.

Participants must notify building-level administration of interest and participation in the cohort.
