I understand, NC House Bill 769, passed in 1997 by the General Assembly, became effective on August 1, 1998. According to this Bill, students are required to stay in school in order to keep their driving privileges. They are also required to maintain adequate academic progress in their classes. (They must pass at least 70% of their classes – three out of four classes in the block schedule or five out of six in a six-period class schedule.) *
