Class Format and Other Important Information
Work in class will be monologues or two-person scenes in the 5-minute range from theater works (classic or contemporary).

After the first two weeks of term, during which we can do first reads and second rehearsals in class, you should bring in the work at a high level of preparation (make a good attempt to have your full five rehearsals before bringing in a scene) and we would rely on Alice's instruction handouts for scene work when preparing material.

Actor pairings and material may be suggested by the organizers or fellow actors since everyone may not be familiar with each other, or may be looking for new ideas for material to work on.

Either before or after your reading, actors may briefly discuss the context of the piece and/or the context of the author (the who what when and why of both) as well as talk briefly about how you connected to it and personalized it. The idea being that we are all encouraged to get curious and discover as we work. There will be NO CRITIQUE of performances.

Classes will be lightly moderated by a rotating actor or actors from OTR who will call up the next scenes and keep the conversation on track.

The first week of class will include an orientation at the top, reviewing the rehearsal process, familiarizing ourselves with the space, props and furniture, some pairing up of actors for future scenes, and then two hours of prepared scene work, much like how Alice would begin a term.
