The mission of the National Independent Venue Foundation (NIVF) is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of the independent live performance venues and promoters throughout the United States by supporting a transparent, competitive marketplace serving a diverse and inclusive community of artists, fans, and industry workers.
If you are an experienced professional with a background in front of house operations (box office, ticketing, inventory & pricing, artist & guest relations, etc.), looking to give back to the independent community and have a desire to invest in the future workers in our industry, we need you!
As a mentor, you will provide real world guidance as the participants navigate the NIVF VOX program and prepare for entry level work in live entertainment venues.
Program Overview:
NIVF is supporting the Venue Operations eXperience which is a 4-month program for selected participants from under-recognized groups in the industry (BIPOC, women, genderqueer or genderfluid, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities), that are interested in careers within live entertainment venues. The program provides venue and job specific training through 15 free virtual education sessions, 2 shadow shifts, an 8-week paid internship in a local venue, paid travel, and a simultaneous 3-month mentorship with an assigned industry expert.
Requirements:
Kick off call on May 10, 2024 // 1:30pm ET
Mentor 1 or 2 participants a minimum of 2 hours each per month for 3 months (June, July & August, 2024)
Completion of 2 NIVF DEI focused virtual training sessions (1 hour each)
Aid in setting up an additional shadow shift days, meetings or other opportunities by utilizing your professional network
Participate as a scorer in the next round of participant applications
Incentives:
$150 stipend per mentee that you accept for program participation ($150 for 1 mentee or $300 for 2 mentees, etc.)
Recognition (Name and affiliation (venue/promoter)) as part of the cohort of NIVF mentors on socials and at NIVA '25.
