PICCH's glossary
A pivotal step in the decolonisation process is the recognition of terms loaded with colonial meanings. For example, the term 'discovery' used to describe the travels of explorers in places unknown to the west passes the message of locating new territories and does not acknowledge that the same places were well known to the local indigenous communities that have been living there for tens of thousands of years.

We are gathering terms that perpetrate the colonial mindset to create a glossary for the decolonisation of the minds. The PICCH's glossary is an attempts to critically engage with postcolonial legacies in today's world.

We invite you to contribute your terms, interpretations and definitions using this form.
The first Section adds interpretations and definitions to the terms already in our glossary.
In the second Section you can add new terms and expressions that you think are missing in our glossary.
