The WUD Alternative Breaks Committee is built on the principle of service-learning. Students embark on life-changing experiences of teamwork, high-impact education, and powerful volunteerism throughout the United State on our student-planned trips. The purpose of the Alternative Breaks Committee is to create events and trips centered on issues that students are interested in spreading awareness of.
This year, the Alternative Breaks Committee has created 3 trips for students to participate in during the 2020 Winter Break. Each trip will have 10 trip participants. Two of these 10 participants are the site leaders. The site leaders are student leaders on the trip who are responsible for coordinating with the community partners, planning travel routes, communicating with the Alternative Breaks leadership team, facilitating reflection throughout the trip, and working with the group to plan free time and meals. General trip participants are responsible for upholding the rules set by the Alternative Breaks Leadership team, working with site leaders to create a safe, respectful, and reflective space throughout the trip, and representing the University of Wisconsin - Madison in communities across the United States.
This Trip Participant Application opens September 11th and closes October 17th 2019 at 11:59pm.
