SER-AMTA 2024; Spirit Award Application
Purpose of this award: The objective of the ‘Spirit Award’ is to help develop a sense of teamwork in the music therapy clubs of our region and increase public awareness of music therapy outside of our schools.  For that purpose we would like to acknowledge student clubs and their members who: (a) engage in activities that showcase collaborative spirit and team work, and (b) apply their knowledge and skills in order to make a difference in their communities.

Who can apply: All music therapy student clubs, in schools who offer music therapy in the SER-AMTA region can apply for this award. A member of the student club executive board, in collaboration with the academic faculty club advisor must complete and submit this form. The application deadline is February 16, 2024. Music therapy student clubs qualify for this award by completing a service learning project that is executed through active participation of at least ⅓ of the student members of the club. The student clubs who receive the highest three scores will be awarded the spirit award.

Requirements: To qualify for this award, the student club president and/or secretary must select one of the service learning projects the student club organized and executed and submit the information below.

Service-learning Project: A service learning project is an activity that: (a) showcases collaborative spirit and team work, and (b) apply their knowledge and skills in order to make a difference in their communities.

Please note that for a service learning project, the club can work in collaboration with a specific organization serving vulnerable individuals in their community. If fundraising is involved, all profits must be awarded to the organization for which they were procured. Please note that at least ⅓ of the student members of the club must participate for the event to qualify. Participation is defined as helping in organizing the service learning project and/or attending in person. 

The Spirit Award will be presented during the Spring SER-AMTA Conference. The student club with the top score will receive the spirit award. The information submitted may be summarized and published in SER-AMTA media.
