Cleanup Information
Islands within Texas bays provide the only breeding spots for many of our iconic coastal birds, such as Brown Pelicans, Reddish Egrets, and Black Skimmers. Now that the nesting season is finished, we need your help to clear these precious nesting islands of trash and lost fishing line and tackle.    

HOW DOES THE CLEANUP WORK?  
Due to restrictions from COVID-19, we are doing the cleanup a little different this year.  We are asking individuals and families to take out their own boats to help cleanup the rookery islands. You pick a bay system where you want to focus, and we'll direct you to the islands that need your help!  Don't worry - if you don't have a boat but still want to help in this effort, we can recommend some additional shorelines that need to cleaned and don't require a boat to access!

WHEN IS THE CLEANUP?  
We are encouraging people to clean up any time the week of October 19-24, but dumpsters will be available for dropping off trash on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24.

WHERE IS THE CLEANUP?
We are targeting rookery islands in Redfish Bay and the Upper and Lower Laguna Madre - you pick which bay system you would like to cleanup and we will let you know where to focus your efforts!

Once you complete this registration form, we will follow up with an email that has more information about the areas you can target during your cleanup efforts, dumpster locations for trash drop-off, and how to pick up your t-shirts and water bottles.
