Dragademia w/ Lola von Miramar & LaWhore Vagistan
Thursday, April 18, 2024
6pm-8pm
Hatcher Graduate Library Gallery (1st floor)
913 S University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48109

Join Lola von Miramar, a Puerto Rican drag queen who loves cooking, and LaWhore Vagistan, everyone’s favorite South Asian drag aunty, as they discuss the radical and fascinating works of Lawrence La Fountain-Stokes (Translocas: The Politics of Puerto Rican Drag and Trans Performance, University of Michigan Press, 2021) and Kareem Khubchandani (Decolonize Drag, OR Books, 2023). Together, they will glamorously dive deep into the pages that uncover complexities of the art of drag performance that you will not learn about on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Be sure to stay until the end; you just might be treated to a performance!

The first 40 attendees to arrive will receive a complimentary copy of both books!
A signing and meet-and-greet with Lola and LaWhore will take place after the discussion.

Food from Pilars Tamales will be provided!

This program is presented by the University of Michigan Arts Initiative in partnership with the U-M Library Joseph A. Labadie Collection.
