- This funding is intended for medical student participants of the Health Equity Ophthalmology Summer Program without alternative funding available through their home institutions. Please explore alternative funding mechanisms PRIOR to applying.
- The research must have been conducted with a faculty member of the Kellogg Eye Center.
- UMMS students are typically not eligible, as funding is available through the Medical School. (If you've already utilized such funding per the academic year, you're eligible for this scholarship).
- You must be enrolled as a medical student at the time of the conference.
- You must be accepted to present prior to applying for funding and provide a copy of the acceptance notification in your application.
- You must be the primary presenter (i.e., lead author on poster).
- Only one award per presentation (i.e., if co-presenting, only one is eligible).
- Only one award per student will be offered each calendar year.
- The maximum award is $1,000.
- A lesser grant may be issued for a reginal conferenced (for example).
- Awarded funds are to be utilized for expenses including conference registration, presentation materials, transportation costs, lodging and meals.
- Funds are awarded prior to the conference, based on the budget submitted but with a maximum of $1,000.
10. An application and documentation must be submitted no less than 45 days prior to the conference occurring to be considered.
11. Recipients are asked to submit a photo of themselves presenting at the conference.
