This first trip for 2021 will be different to the usual “river” trips we are used to.
1. It will be a saltwater trip.
2. It will be in the North, rather than going South as we normally do.
The venue is the Houhora Heads(Wagoner) Holiday Park in Houhora where locals can fish right off the beach.
President Peter spotted this place and brought up the idea to come here in February. The school holidays are over, there is plenty of accommodation and the fishing can be sensational.
Son Campbell was up there at Christmas and checked it out for us, said he just fished off the beach at the camp and was a bit upset that he caught too many stingrays.
The camp owners told him that Feb/March were the best months as that is when the snapper come in. So here’s hoping.
As well as accessible beaches, for those wanting a new experience Rod and Reel have kindly offered to let us take up the two kayaks which we see every night in the clubrooms.
So put a ring around the date and come and enjoy yourself!!
We have booked accommodation for 14 and will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Lunch, bring your own, and for dinner there is a very good meal available at the local Fishing Club. I dare say most of us will be going there.
Cost
For accommodation and 2 breakfasts the cost will be $100.00. If you would like to go up on Thursday instead of Friday or stay over on Sunday and come home on Monday add $50.00 per night.
