New Bible Study begins Tuesday, September 13, 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Abram (also known as Abraham) is one of the greatest figures in religious history. The three major monotheistic religions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam – all claim him as their ancestor. So, starting on Tuesday, September 13, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, and continuing for seven weeks, join Trinity’s Interim Priest-in-Charge, Stephen Applegate, as we take a look at the stories from Genesis that comprise the saga of our spiritual ancestors. 

The Bible for Dummies calls Abraham and his family as “the Babylonian Hillbillies.” The reference to the old TV show, “The Beverly Hillbillies,” isn’t terribly accurate, but both the biblical story of Abraham and the “story ‘bout a man named Jed” are rags to riches stories. That’s where the similarities end though. TV comedies come and go, but Abraham’s journey of a lifetime left an indelible mark on the religious landscape of our work.

The class will meet in person in the library of the Trinity Parish House (and, perhaps, online for those who cannot attend in person).

Tuesday, October 11 – Abraham’s Intercession for Sodom – Genesis 18:16-33

Tuesday, October 18 – Isaac and Ishmael – Genesis 21:1-21

Tuesday, October 25 – The Testing of Abraham – Genesis 22:1-19
